Tracy Burns and Matthew Edmonds are professionals in residence in the LSU Department of Interior Design and the principals of Commercial Design Interiors, a Louisiana-registered interior design firm based in Baton Rouge, which has recently won a bevy of national and regional awards.

Commercial Design Interiors was honored with four awards by the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) Delta Regional Chapter. Awards were presented at the IDEA Gala at the Loews Hotel ballroom in New Orleans on August 17, 2013.

The firm received two IIDA Delta Regional Chapter awards of excellence: one for the Saints Operation Facility in Metairie, Louisiana, which won an Interior Design Excellence Award (IDEA) in the Corporate Small Design category and the other for the Newborn & Infant Intensive Care Unit at the Woman’s Hospital in Baton Rouge, which received an IDEA in the Healthcare Large Design category. The Newborn & Infant Intensive Care Unit also received the 2013 People’s Choice Award, and the Woman’s Hospital project in Baton Rouge received an award of recognition in Healthcare Large Design.

Edmonds and Burns were involved in all of the winning projects, and several LSU interior design alumni contributed to some or all of the projects. The firm currently employs alumni Mandy Tebbutt (BID 2000) and Stefania Himpler (BID ’09) and has employed more than 18 LSU alumni as interns since 2003.

Burns and Edmonds have another awards show to attend in September for ASID. With any luck, Commercial Design Interiors will have more good news to share!
